‘Exploring’ and ‘sharing’
De Baak is an energetic environment where something is always happening. And a source of inspiration that draws out your curiosity, powers of reflection and urge to grow. A challenging learning environment. Stimulating, colorful, with sparkle and humor. Where there is room for the unexpected and the experimental. De Baak locations invite you to explore and to share knowledge and expertise. Free of the bustle and conventions of everyday life.
Inspiration for change
Innovation occurs where traditional patterns of thought are thrown out. Creating space for new insights and interpretations. Where you step beyond your personal frames of reference and start to see new solutions. Art plays an important role at the De Horst Estate. Artists and designers from various disciplines have created a unique environment, an environment which is further enhanced by regular exhibitions of new work. Art exhibitions are also a regular occurrence at the Noordwijk location.
Jan van der Veer, artist / curator of the De Horst Estate
“There is a persisting tendency to try and pin down the meaning of words, concepts and images in plain English. Yet much of what we see and experience cannot be expressed in verbal concepts. Actually, a really good work of art should be evocative in many different ways. Deliberately seek out the contradictions, allow yourself to enjoy the free associations and new perspectives, and even the ‘fortunate accidents’ created more by chance than design.
The leader, businessman or professional works with the materials of his organization; the artist uses the materials of his art. Both order their materials by introducing new structures and hierarchies. Many artists try to depart from the historical conventions they have inherited, or put them into a new perspective. They do this freely, without the pressure of all sorts of important concerns. Ideally speaking, professionals from the business community should be inspired by a similar philosophy of life and work. Stepping outside your normal frame of reference will allow you to see an entirely different solution. It will lead to a growing realization that one and the same thing can be seen in many different ways, and that every idea can be re-thought.”
